Suspects Break Into Cars Around Montgomery County: Police
Police are searching for suspects who stole credit cards from unlocked cars and used them fraudulently in Montgomery County.
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Police are searching for suspects who broke into cars around Montgomery County and stole credit cards from residents earlier this month.
The stolen credit cards were later used fraudulently by the suspects at places like the Lakeforest Mall and a gas station, police said.
Thefts from unlocked vehicles continue to be a high-volume crime in Montgomery County, police said. Officers urge all residents to remove valuables from vehicles and locking all doors.

The following thefts from vehicles were reported to police and are believed to have been committed by the same suspects:
- During the overnight hours of March 31 into April 1 in the 300 block of Soapstone Lane in the Colesville area. Property was stolen.
- On April 3 at approximately 2:49 a.m. on Brick Manor Circle in the Norbeck area. Three suspects were seen on surveillance video attempting to break into vehicles. No property was stolen.
- On April 3 at approximately 4:00 a.m. in the 3200 block of Sandburg Terrace in the Olney area. Credit cards were stolen from a vehicle. A suspect used one of the stolen credit cards at the 7-Eleven located at 711 Baltimore Road in Rockville. A suspect also used a stolen credit card in the Lakeforest Mall located at 701 Russell Avenue in Gaithersburg.
- On April 3 at approximately 4:02 a.m. in the 16000 block of Fox Valley Terrace in the Derwood area. The suspects were seen on surveillance video attempting to break into vehicles. No property was stolen.
- During the overnight hours of April 9 in the 1400 block of Myer Terrace in a neighborhood surrounding the Norbeck Road and Baur Drive area. A credit card was stolen from the victim’s vehicle and was used by one of the suspects at an Exxon gas station located at 5500 Norbeck Road.
Anyone with information regarding these suspects is asked to call police at 240-773-5500. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided that leads to an arrest in this case.
