Two MoCo Schools Honored As National Blue Ribbon Schools

The U.S. Department of Education designated seven Maryland schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools, including two in Montgomery County.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Bannockburn Elementary School in Bethesda and Luxmanor Elementary School in Rockville have been named National Blue Ribbon Schools for 2018. The U.S. Department of Education announced the 349 award winners Monday, which included the two Montgomery County public schools, as well as five other schools in Maryland.

There will be an awards ceremony to recognize Bannockburn, Luxmanor and all 349 National Blue Ribbon Schools from Nov. 7 to Nov. 8 in Washington, D.C.

Now in its 36th year, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has highlighted more than 8,800 educational institutions that have test scores in the top 15 percent in their state and no major gaps among students from different demographics.
