Arundel County Player Wins Lottery Game Twice In 6 Months
A Severna Park man used the same set of numbers to win twice at Maryland Lottery's Racetrax game.

SEVERNA PARK, MD — A player from Anne Arundel County who won $10,146 playing the Maryland Lottery’s Racetrax game in August 2018 won the same amount this week by placing the exact same bet on the exact same horses. His lucky wager: a $1 Superfecta bet on horses 10, 1, 2 and 12.
“I won with the same numbers as in August, but it was not the combination I was trying to hit,” he told Maryland Lottery officials in a news release. Back in August, the Severna Park man was playing horse numbers related to the date of his mother’s passing. This time, he was playing numbers associated with his late mother’s home address: 10, 1, 7 and 2. That wager didn’t work out, so he played the numbers from August for a winning combination.
The lucky player dabbles in a few Maryland Lottery games and is a regular when it comes to Racetrax. “I’ve done better with the horses,” he said in a press release. In addition to the big scores this week and back in August, he has won prizes of a few hundred dollars to $3,000.

“I’ve hit off and on, but mostly not too big,” said the winner, who is a U.S. government employee.
While the bet, horse numbers and prize amount matched for the January and August wins, there was a difference in the winning Racetrax venues. In August, the 58-year-old won at Camp Meade Shell in Linthicum. This recent win happened at AA State Hanover Check Cashing at 2830 South Hanover Street in Baltimore.

Ever the pragmatist, the lucky winner is planning no celebrations. Instead, he will give half of the proceeds from his win to his daughter and use the other half to upgrade a rental property he owns.
His lucky retailer can celebrate his achievement, too. For selling a winning Racetrax ticket of $10,000 or more, AA State Hanover Check Cashing earns a bonus of $101.46 from the Lottery. The bonus is equal to 1 percent of the prize.
