Heat Alert: Anne Arundel County Opens Cooling Shelters
Residents can escape the heat at the county's seven senior activity centers or the Pip Moyer Recreation Center in Annapolis.

Due to today’s predicted hot temperatures, the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities has opened the seven senior activity centers in the county as cooling centers until 4:30 p.m.
The region is under a Heat Advisory with highs expected to reaching 91, producing a heat index (feels-like temperature) of 105.
Transportation will be provided for those wishing to use these facilities. Children must be supervised by a family member or guardian at all times.

The Department of Aging and Disabilities will provide transportation to all citizens to and from cooling centers, libraries, and police precinct community rooms based on resource availability during business hours.
Also, the City of Annapolis has opened the Pip Moyer Recreation Center at 273 Hilltop Lane Tuesday as a cooling center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., officials said.
