Arts Council of Anne Arundel County, Inc.
The Arts Council is a non-profit foundation which encourages and invests in the visual arts, performing arts, and historic preservation for the people of Anne Arundel County. Volunteers, 18 and older, are needed to help in the office with answering phones and computer input for membership database. In conjunction with the City of Annapolis, the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County has also taken over the management of the Capital City Cultural Arts District, an area in Annapolis in which artists and arts-related businesses and organizations are encouraged to locate and prosper. Bello Machre provides loving homes and support to people with developmental disabilities. Our volunteers open their hearts to develop friendships with the individuals we serve. We offer a variety of opportunities that are best suited to your talents, interests, and time. Whether it’s spending time with an individual scrapbooking, cooking, watching movies, or playing video games, lending a hand with yard work or gardening at one of our homes, or helping staff at our administrative office. Volunteer hours are flexible and opportunities are available throughout Anne Arundel County. Orientation training is provided and volunteers 18-years-old and up must pass a criminal background check. Many volunteers are needed to help make this day a success including: help with greeting, set-up, route support, food service and clean-up, and more; families and group volunteers are welcome. Opportunities Industrialization Center (OIC) Of Anne Arundel County
This Nonprofit agency provides job training and placement services to low income unemployed and underemployed residents of Anne Arundel County. A wide variety of volunteers are needed to assist and or teach basic computer, GED Preparations, English as a Second Language (ESL), resume writing, math skills, writing skills, job skills, job interviewing classes and much more. OIC is in need of volunteers to form a pool of instructors for our GED Prep classes. Office volunteers are also needed at the 2600 Solomons Island Road location. Parole Rotary Club
The Rotary Club of Parole (Annapolis) is comprised of approximately 80 members, who enthusiastically share and demonstrate the Rotary philosophy. It is a service club that significantly improves lives in the local community and around the world by meeting real needs. Our vision is: “We will make a positive difference for youth today, so they will make a difference tomorrow.” The Parole Rotary has continuing volunteer needs for events and activities throughout the year. · 11a.m.–9p.m.,Sat. & 12p.m.-6p.m, Sun., May 2- 3, 2015, Naptown barBAYq Contest & Music Festival: A large number of volunteers are needed to help with this gala event being held at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds. There will be more than 40 live bands, children’s activities, barbecue tasting, arts and crafts, and much more. Volunteer help will be needed for several shifts each day for: kids fun zone; set-up teams; beer servers; bank personnel; greeters; maintenance, logistics; communications; car parking; security; cash-out personnel; runners; utility workers; information tent; VIP hosts, and more. Moveable Feast
This nonprofit prepares and delivers meals to clients who are homebound with HIV/AIDS. Volunteers, as young as 16 (15 & under w/adult) are needed to deliver meals Mon.– Fri. between 9 am–1 pm. Meal delivery takes about 1 hour and drivers have flexibility in setting their schedules. Volunteers are asked to deliver once a week. There are also numerous other opportunities such as kitchen assistants, bakers, gardeners, and more. · May 2-3, 2015, Ride for the Feast 2015 Fundraiser: A variety of volunteers are needed for this event encompassing two days and 140 miles of road biking from Ocean City to Moveable Feast headquarters in east Baltimore, MD. Crew members are needed for events and support leading up to the event, as well as on the days of the ride. The later include assisting at overnight stop areas, working pit stops, support and gear drivers (SAG), repair technicians, medical team, and helping at the closing ceremony in Baltimore. Riders will be riding through Anne Arundel County on that Sunday, May 3th, where support will be needed. U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, Annapolis Flotilla 23-1
Volunteers are needed to assist the Coast Guard in non-law-enforcement programs, including public education, vessel safety checks, safety patrols, search and rescue, marine environment protection and more. YWCA of Annapolis & Anne Arundel County
The YWCA of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County focuses on providing crisis intervention services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. This is accomplished through the domestic violence safe house shelter, a 24-hour crisis phone line, counseling services, an Abuser Intervention Program, hospital accompaniment for victims of sexual assault, legal representation of victims who are obtaining peace and protective orders, and after school tutoring and mentoring programs.
