Residence Inn To Be Built In Downtown Silver Spring: PICS

The 14-story hotel will have 173 rooms, developers announced.

SILVER SPRING, MD — A brand new, 14-story Residence Inn hotel is coming to the corner of Georgia Avenue and Colesville Road in downtown Silver Spring, developers announced Monday.

Starr Capital and SV Hospitality formed a joint venture with Petroleum Marketing Group (PMG)—an owner and operator of over 1,000 service stations along the east coast—in August 2016 to develop the hotel.

A Gulf gas station owned by PMG is currently located at 8600 Georgia Ave. Developers plan to break ground on the hotel in December 2017.

“That location is not really good for office or apartments,” Starr Capital Managing Director Tim Eden told the WBJ. “It’s a good hotel site on a prominent corner in the middle of downtown Silver Spring.”

The hotel will have 173 rooms, a rooftop terrace, underground parking, over 5,000 square feet of meeting space and about 4,000 square feet of retail space. Starr Capital is working with BBGM Architecture and Studio Partnership interior design.
