$50K Lottery Win Prompts Man To Ditch His Cane, Celebrate

The 68-year-old Takoma Park resident threw down his cane and bopped across the room after learning he had won $50,000.

TAKOMA PARK, MD — When a 68-year-old Takoma Park resident realized he had won the $50,000 prize on the Cash Craze Doubler scratch-off, he threw down his cane and bopped across the room.

"I was very happy, but I kept cool," the loyal scratch-off player told Maryland Lottery officials.

The Montgomery County grocery store clerk bought the winning ticket at T.J. Beer, Wine & Liquor in Takoma Park. He typically buys his favorite scratch-off, Lucky 7s, but decided to take a crack at Cash Craze Doubler. According to lottery officials, the winner said he was in disbelief after the win and only told family members about his luck.
