By George, the new royal baby has a name! We’ve got some lovely weather and there are some new features to share on Takoma Park Patch.

Here’s a look at some of the things you need to know to be in the know in Takoma Park today:

1. Summer Breeze: Got jasmine in your mind? (Apologies to these guys.) Our string of beautiful weather continues, with today looking like the best of the bunch leading into the weekend. The National Weather Service says with low humidity, a north wind around 9 mph and a high of just 80. “July is dressed up and playing her tune.” And what a sweet tune it is.

3. ICYMI (In Case You Missed It): ABC7 this week obtained security camera footage from Metro showing the Silver Spring station filling with smoke after a train caught fire in the Takoma station and kept on rolling up the Red Line.

4. Emergency & I: Today in Takoma Park government, the Emergency Preparedness Committee meets at 7:30 p.m. in the Hydrangea Room of the Takoma Park Community Center, at 7500 Maple Ave. (Apologies to these guys.)
