Earth Day 2017: Takoma Park, Silver Spring Festival Info

The Takoma Park Silver Spring Co-Op will transform the Takoma Junction parking lot into a frolicking green realm of festivities Saturday.

TAKOMA PARK, MD — The Takoma Park Silver Spring Co-Op (TPSS) invites residents to celebrate Mother Earth and all her glory on Earth Day this Saturday. The co-op has been a host of Earth Day events for nearly 20 years in Takoma Park, and is a meeting place and hub for the community to network and feel connected to healthy living and healing the planet year-round.

The co-op has tons of activities planned for Earth Day. The organization will transform the Takoma Junction parking lot into a frolicking green realm of festivities, including speakers, performers, food vendors, green and organic businesses and more. The celebration will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., rain or shine.

Some performers and speakers for Earth Day 2017 include: the Brinjal Band at 11 a.m.; Drum Circle with Katy Gaughan at 12:30 p.m.; Kayla Agonoy of Eco City Farms at 1 p.m.; MD Comptroller Peter Franchot at 3 p.m.; Senator William C. Smith, Jr. at 3 p.m.; Strolling Performances with Circus Trash Monsters at 3:30 p.m. and SongRise DC at 4:30 p.m.

Vendors include: Tin Lizzy, House of Wood and Stone, H20 at Home, Tasty Grill To Go, The Green Mop, Honest Tea, Whisked!, Humankind Water, Lotus Eaters and more.
