Healthy Fun 5K Run!

Where:  Takoma Piney Branch Local Park 2 Darwin Ave. Takoma Park

When:  Sunday, July 21, 1 p.m.

Description:  The Student of the Leaders Institute is sponsoring a Lung Cancer awareness and early detection 5K event.

Cost:  $20-$35

Root 53 Youth Football Camp Hosted by NFL Titan Moise Fokou

Where:  Montgomery Blair High School, 51 University Blvd E, Silver Spring

When:  Saturday, July 20, 8 a.m.

Description: 6th- to 8th-grade football fans are invited to join Moise Fokou other NFL players, like the Colts' Joe Lefeged, Lions' Tahir Whitehead, Jets' Muhammad Wilkerson and Ravens' Torrey Smith, for an all-star football adventure. All participants will receive a free lunch, souvenirs, T-shirt and gift bags, autographs and more.

Expression Live Benefit Concert

Where: 916 Ellsworth Dr. Silver Spring

When: Saturday, July 20, 3 p.m.

Description:  Locals are invited to join singers, dancers, and poets in Downtown Silver Spring for a benefit concert for the homeless.

Cost: The concert will raise money and collect donations of toiletries and clothing for the city's homeless population.

Fillmore Food Truck Festival

Where:  8656 Colesville Road Silver Spring

When:  Saturday, July 20, 5 p.m.

Description:  Food truck festival including food, music and more.

Cost:  $5

Dogtopia Annual Charity Dog Wash

Where:   4920 Wyaconda Rd North Bethesda

When:  Sunday, July 21, 12 p.m.

Description:  Dogtopia will be hosting its annual Dog Wash at the White Flint location this year. All proceeds made to the Dog Wash go to Veterans Moving Forward.

Cost:  Donation-driven event.

DARCARS Rockville Rotary Runfest

Where:  Rockville Town Center/North Washington Street

When:  Saturday, July 20, 7 p.m.

Description: The 2013 Runfest is the 28th running of Rockville's summer night road race and block party.

Cost: $39

Bethesda Row Summer Sidewalk Sale

Where:   4950 Elm Street, Bethesda

When:  Friday, July 19, 10 a.m.

Description: Bethesda Row will hold the Bethesda Row Summer Sidewalk Sale, the annual festival that turns the Bethesda Row quadrant into a festive outdoor street bazaar, offering live entertainment along with deals on fashions, housewares, beauty items, furniture and more. The weekend also offers restaurants specials throughout Bethesda Row.

Pirate Comedy and Magic Show

Where: Chevy Chase Library

When: Saturday, July 20, 10:30 a.m.

Description:  A comical misadventure with a pirate who has lost his treasure.  Can a little magic help?  Show is best for kid’s ages 5 and up.  Sponsored by the Friends of the Library, Chevy Chase Chapter.

Cost:  Free
