Maryland Weather: Muddy Waters

With the weekend having been a relative bummer in terms of rain, clouds and temperatures, the opening of the work week offers scant relief — at least through the first part of the week. That's the word from the National Weather Service.

Namely, there's a high chance of rain Sunday night into Monday (which should be chilly), and not until Wednesday does the forecast even see a glimpse of a possibly dry day. Wind gusts Monday night could reach 20 mph.

Come Thursday, however, things begin to look up in a big way. Not only that, but Saturday is expected to be much different from the one we just experienced.

Here's the latest National Weather Service forecast:

Sunday Night: A chance of rain after 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 48. East wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Monday: Periods of rain. High near 54. Northeast wind 8 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Monday Night: Periods of rain. Low around 50. Northeast wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Tuesday: Periods of rain. High near 60. Northeast wind 11 to 13 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tuesday Night: Rain likely. Cloudy, with a low around 54. North wind 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Wednesday: A slight chance of rain before 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 71. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Wednesday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 59.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 83.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64.

Friday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 8am. Partly sunny, with a high near 82. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
