Montgomery Man Is First 'Ninja Warrior' But Loses $1M Prize

An Olney man was the first contestant to cleanly compete the challenges on "American Ninja Warrior," but he didn't snag a million dollars.

Geoff Britten, a cameraman and workout buff from Olney, was the first to flawlessly complete the course on the NBC show “American Ninja Warrior.”
Britten was competing Monday night for a $1 million prize. And for a minute, it looked like he had it locked up.

The winner of the Season 7 finale would be the competitor who could scale the rope climb the fastest. Rock climber Isaac Caldiero beat Britten’s time by 3 seconds, according to USA Today, winning the event and a cool $1 million prize.

Narrowly missing the prize money didn’t seem to phase Britten, who still holds bragging rights as the first Ninja Warrior.

Britten said on Instagram: “I’m so honored to be the first American ninja warrior - and the only one to hit 6 buzzers and have a perfect season. Thank you all for the support and love. A HUGE thank you to my wife for being by my side and being my best friend.”
