Peak Bloom for Tidal Basin's Cherry Blossoms

Thanks to a colder-than-usual March, the cherry blossoms around the Tidal Basin in Washington, DC, took longer than expected to bloom. Peak bloom dates were revised twice.

This week's warm temperatures, however, seem to have done the trick, and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom by Tuesday. Check out the photo gallery (taken Tuesday evening, April 9, 2013) to get a better look at the blossoms—or, better yet, make a visit to the Tidal Basin yourself. (Just be prepared for the crowds.)
