Puppy Days, Baby-Birthing Ways and the Presidential Nominee of the Day

Happy Monday, Takoma Park! Here’s a look at some of the things you need to know to be in the know in and around town this week.

1. I Don’t Want to Jinx It, But …: We’ve been really lucky with our mid-summer temperatures. (The “dog days” have been more like puppies.) The National Weather Service says our terrific run will continue this week with highs in the low 80s and only a few chances of rain.

2. Pick ‘o the Week: This one happens late in the week: “UnBreaking Birth“ features a reception, a 30-minute “TED”-like presentation and a panel “Q and A” addressing the question: What if something is deeply wrong with our childbirth system? It’s Saturday at in the Takoma Park Community Center auditorium. Find more details here.

3. ICYMI (In Case You Missed It): Takoma Park is piling on when it comes to keeping score on towns with presidential nominees. See the latest Takoma Park resident to be tapped by Obama.

4. Where Are All the Starbucks Locations in Montgomery County?: If that question sounds ludicrous on its face, it’s all relative. Relative to the rest of the U.S., Montgomery County is bucking the trend for the number of Starbucks locations calling our home their home.

5. Coming Attractions: Takoma Park digs folk, and that’s no joke.
