Shop Takoma Park During Small Business Saturday

TAKOMA PARK, MD — Big name national retailers take the spotlight on Black Friday as their deep price cuts pull in shoppers in droves. But what about those mom-and-pop businesses all over Takoma Park and beyond that are the backbone of America's economy? Just when do they get their day?

That's basically the question that was asked back in 2010 when the concept of Small Business Saturday was born. Locally owned business across the country now take part in Small Business Saturday, offering their own deals to rival those offered the day before on Black Friday.

Takoma Park residents can take part in the fun of Small Business Saturday all day. The Main Street Takoma association encourages residents to shop local, spend cash and celebrate all of the local businesses.

Residents can enjoy musical instruments, local art, vintage clothes and funky furniture at local stores like Amano, Artful Framing, The Big Bad Woof, Covered Market, Polly Sue's Vintage Shop, S & A Beads, Takoma Bicycle and more.

After a full day of shopping, enjoy some food at local eateries such as Busboys and Poets, Capital City Cheesecake, Mark's Kitchen, Olive Lounge, Republic and Roscoe's Neapolitan Pizzeria.
