Takoma Park Crime: 2 Cars Broken Into Thursday, Police Said

Takoma Park responded to two calls of attempted theft in four hours, police said.

TAKOMA PARK, MD — Takoma Park responded to two calls of attempted theft from a car on Jackson Avenue and a car on Flower Avenue Thursday, police said.

At about 8:30 a.m., Takoma Park Police responded to the 700 block of Jackson Avenue for the report of an attempt theft from auto. Some time between midnight and 7 a.m., unknown suspect(s) entered the victim's vehicle through an unlocked door and rummaged through the vehicle, police said. It appeared as though no property was taken from the vehicle.

Just a few hours later at around 12 p.m., police responded to the 7300 block of Flower Avenue for another report of an attempt theft from auto. Some time between Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Thursday at 12 p.m., unknown suspect(s) entered the vehicle through a broken lock and rummaged through the vehicle. It appeared as though no property was taken from the vehicle, police said.

Some time between 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday, an unknown suspect stole all four tires off a victim's car on Myrtle Avenue. The car was left on crates, police said.

Thefts from vehicles are on the rise in Takoma Park, a police spokesperson told Patch. Takoma Park Police are warning residents to be alert and always secure their vehicles.
