Takoma Park Folk Festival Returns For 40th Year

The Takoma Park Folk Festival will return to the middle school this weekend for a free day of music, artisans and food vendors.

TAKOMA PARK, MD — The Takoma Park Folk Festival will return to the middle school this weekend for a free day of music, artisans and food vendors. This is the festival's 40th anniversary, and officials are planning a grand celebration.

The festival will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10. There will be six stages featuring a variety of live music performances, from bluegrass and rock-folk to Afro-Latin fusion and traditional gospel. The stages will house well-known musicians as well as first-time performers.

Local groups include Annapolis indie-fusion band "Leo & Cygnus" and D.C.'s versatile trio "Uncle Chunky."

Festival attendees can peruse crafts, photography, soaps, candles, jewelry and more at the Juried Craft Show & Sale. There will also be children's activities and dance workshops.
