Takoma Park Solar Eclipse Weather Forecast For Aug. 21

TAKOMA PARK, MD — The solar eclipse is almost here, and the weather forecast is now getting a lot clearer. And while there's good news, there is reason to worry about your view of the sun.

The forecast for Monday, Aug. 21 calls for scattered clouds with the possibility of an isolated thunderstorm in the afternoon, according to Weather.com. Overall, the chance of rain is 30 percent.

The eclipse will begin shortly after 1 p.m. and end at around 4 p.m., with it reaching its peak at around 2:42 p.m. At its peak, about 85 percent of the sun will be covered in D.C. So even if it is partly cloudy, as long as the sun is peaking through enough, it shouldn't be too big of a problem. Still, the risk is there.

It will be warm, but not too warm. The high is projected to be 87 degrees.
