The United Way of Central Maryland's Harvest of Plenty program is once again set to fight hunger this Thanksgiving, as members will distribute 3,600 meals throughout the region.

Last year, Harvest of Plenty delivered about 3,100 meals, and this year they will deliver another 500, with 600 meals going to families in Baltimore County. The United Way teamed up with the Lardarius Webb Foundation, led by the Baltimore Ravens cornerback, in putting together the family dinners for $15 a piece.

Each box contains traditional Thanksgiving foods like a turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, kale, sweet potatoes and cranberry sauce, with enough food to serve six people.

"It is humbling to see the generosity of so many donors as we enter the holiday season," said Keith Scott, chair of UWCM’s Baltimore County Community Partnership Board and president of the Baltimore County Chamber of Commerce. "Without their support, Harvest of Plenty would not be possible."

Meals will be distributed between Nov. 20 and Nov. 20 at locations in Randallstown, Dundalk, Parkville, Lochearn and Essex.

According to census data, more than 93,000 people in Baltimore County face hunger problems, and more than 16 percent of children in the county lack consistent access to healthy affordable food.
