47 Baltimore County Fire Prevention Poster Contest Winners TBA
The winners of Baltimore County's Fire Prevention Poster Contest will be announced Tuesday night at Loch Raven High School.

TOWSON, MD — Students from Baltimore County will be recognized for their artwork promoting fire safety. A total of 47 students from Baltimore County Public Schools will be honored for their submissions to the Baltimore County Fire Prevention Week poster contest, according to the Baltimore County Fire Department.
Each year, students are invited to submit posters along a theme that promotes fire prevention.
This year's theme for Fire Prevention Week was "Not every hero wears a cape. Plan and practice your escape." The week was in early October but the message is timeless.

"This year’s campaign works to celebrate people of all ages who learn about home fire escape planning and practice, bring that information home, and spur their families to action," Lorraine Carli, vice president of outreach and advocacy at the National Fire Protection Association. "People tend to underestimate their risk to fire, particularly at home. That over-confidence lends itself to a complacency toward home escape planning and practice," Carli said. “But in a fire situation, we’ve seen time and again that advance planning can make a potentially life-saving difference.”
“Not Every Hero Wears a Cape. Plan and Practice Your Escape!" focuses on coming up with and practicing a home escape plan.

To encourage students to engage in the theme for the year, the Baltimore County Professional Firefighters Association and Baltimore County Volunteer Firemen's Association sponsored the poster contest and donated prizes.
Poster contest award winners will be recognized at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Loch Raven High School, 1212 Cowpens Avenue, Towson, MD 21286.
