TIMONIIUM, MD — Have you ever wanted to be a contestant on "Wheel of Fortune"? The game show is coming to the Baltimore area. It's hosting a two-day search in its "Wheelmobile" at the Maryland State Fairgrounds this weekend.

The Wheelmobile is a yellow Winnebago that has traveled the country for 15 years in search of contestants for the game show. Organizers say that the majority of contestants on TV started their journey by visiting a Wheelmobile event in their hometown.

"Every year, Wheel of Fortune receives over 1 million inquiries from viewers who want to be contestants," Executive Producer Harry Friedman said in a statement. "The Wheelmobile was created to give people all over the country an opportunity to realize that dream."

Everyone who comes to the Wheelmobile can fill out an application, which will be distributed at the Cow Palace at the fairgrounds. Then participants will be selected at random to do an interview with a professional host, play a version of the game using the Wheel and puzzleboard and win prizes.

"Wheel of Fortune is looking for good game players who are energetic, enthusiastic and fun," the call for contestants said. "This is your opportunity to shine. Show us what you’ve got!"

After the Wheelmobile event, organizers will select people based on their on-stage performance who they think will make the best candidates for the show; a final round of auditions will take place in a couple of months later in the Baltimore area.

The Wheelmobile will be at the Maryland State Fairgrounds from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, and Sunday, June 9. Parking will be free at the fairgrounds at 2200 York Road, Lutherville-Timonium, MD 21093.

Need to brush up on your "Wheel of Fortune?" The show airs at 7:30 p.m. weeknights on Fox 45. People can also play online.
