Cunningham's Closes Restaurant; Cafe To Remain Open
A Towson restaurant has closed and will reopen under a new name and concept later this year.

TOWSON, MD — Cunningham's has closed. The restaurant on Olympic Place is undergoing a transformation that the executive chef says will bring it alignment with the new developments in Towson.
When it reopens, the new restaurant will have an expanded bar and intimate dining space. Its menu will be put together by Cunningham's Executive Chef Jay Rohlfing.
"Towson has changed over the past six years, and as you look around at the many development projects underway, I saw this as a unique opportunity to build on the success we have enjoyed at Cunningham's while re-envisioning a new concept and new brand that meets the needs of the growing Towson community," Rohlfing said in a statement.

The idea is to have more of a social space, scaling back the dining area from 150 to 80 seats, Rohlfing told Baltimore magazine, stating the goal was to create someplace with buzz.

Although there may be a slight disruption during construction, Cunningham's Cafe and Bakery will remain open as the restaurant upstairs undergoes its rebranding process.
"The cafe has become the go-to place for breakfast and lunch and as a result has outgrown its space," Rohlfing said. The plan is to double the size of the bakery and cafe by enclosing the outdoor space, he continued, so it can be used year-round.
