District 42 State Races Appear Settled

Crowded field narrowed for the November general election

In the Democratic primary race for House of Delegates in District 42, incumbent Del. Stephen Lafferty was leading all candidates with 72 percent of the vote counted.

Candidates Lori Albin and Oz Bengur appeared poised to take the other two open positions, beating out Art Buist and David Kosak. 

With only 12 more precincts left to report, Lafferty had 6,390 votes; Albin had 5,125; and Bengur had 4,342.

On the Republican side, incumbent delegates Susan Aumann and William Frank won and were joined by John C. Fiastro Jr. They defeated Nicholas Pepersack and Jack Gordon. With 31 out of 43 precincts reporting, Aumann was ahead with 3,729 votes; Frank had 3,507; and Fiastro had 2,513.

Once the results are finalized, the Democratic and Republican primary winners will meet in the November election for the district's three seats.

State Sen. James Brochin was unchallenged in his state Senate primary in District 42. It appears he will face Republican candidate Kevin Carney  in the general election in November. Carney was well ahead of Walter Kuebler in the GOP primary.
