Family Hosts Fun Walk to Honor Daughter and Other Families with Epilepsy and Autism

Walk at Goucher College is slated for Oct. 23 and will include family fun like a bounce house, crafts and music; event is dog friendly.

The Stroup Family has had a 501c3 non profit for over 10 years raising money for Johns Hopkins Epilepsy Center by hosting indoor triathlons during the winter months. They have now decided to branch out into the walk world and host a 1 mile Fun walk and family festival! In the past, the walk was hosted by the Abilities Network, but due to other circumstances, they decided to fund other projects. The Stroups were eager to continue the walk they loved to participate in so much that they decided to take over the event. With three large corporate sponsors and many volunteers, they expect over 200 walkers for their first year. The walk will have athletic trainers warming up the crowd, cheerleaders from Perry Hall High School cheering on the walkers, ice cream, face painting, crafts from the Towson Chapter of the National Education Art Association and much, much more.

The Stroups were initially motivated to start their foundation because their daughter, Addie, had epilepsy. She has since also been diagnosed with autism and they plan to add this to their mission along with an advocacy program to help families in need when delving into the chaos of properly placing their child in the appropriate educational setting. This program is currently in the works of being structured.

They also want to note that this is a Dog Friendly event! Come out to support their cause and have a fun day at Goucher College, Sunday, October 23rd at 8:00 a.m. You can register at: www.stroupkidsforkids.org/walk...
