Felipe's Taqueria Opens In Shops At Kenilworth

TOWSON, MD — A new Mexican restaurant is open in Towson. Felipe's Taqueria quietly welcomed diners earlier this month, around a year after breaking ground at The Shops at Kenilworth.

Made-from-scratch Mexican food and drinks are on the menu, including a signature key-lime margarita, chicken tinga, carnitas and al pastor on tacos, burritos, salads and burrito bowls.

The 3,600-square-foot restaurant is open Tuesday through Saturday for outdoor dining, limited indoor dining and carryout. Parking spots for carryout are designated as "for Felipe's customers" outside the freestanding building, which is near Italian Gardens and the old Stebbins Anderson.

"It is our hope that the Towson community and Baltimore County neighbors see our resilience and dedication to being a true part of the community, even when it's hard," Charles Arinder of Felipe's said in a statement.

Felipe's opened in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic. Maryland is in phase two of reopening, with limited indoor dining allowed.

“The restaurant industry has always been known for literally taking lemons and making lemonade,” Arinder said.

Felipe's has outdoor seating and roll-up doors that allow the fresh air inside. A craft margarita bar is in one part of the restaurant. In another, there is a counter where people can order and dine at tables.

"We're hiring people who need work, we're forging ahead with our plans, and we're excited to be opening at The Shops at Kenilworth," Arinder said.

This is the first location in the mid-Atlantic for Felipe's, which is headquartered in New Orleans. It has other locations in Florida as well as Louisiana.

Felipe's Taqueria is at 842 Kenilworth Drive, Towson, MD 21204. Hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
