Former GBMC Security Guard Sentenced For Attempted Rape

Ricky Bostic was charged with burglaries and sexual assaults spanning a nearly two-month period.

A former Greater Baltimore Medical Center security guard was sentenced Wednesday to 50 years in prison for attempted first-degree rape.

Ricky Bostic, 44, learned of his sentence Wednesday from Baltimore County Circuit Court Judge Kathleen Cox.

The sentence was the result of a plea agreement in which Bostic pleaded guilty to one count of attempted first-degree rapestemming from a July 19, 2012 burglary of an apartment in the Versailles Apartments complex in Towson.

“He pleaded guilty to the one charge but we were able to tell the judge about the other incidents during sentencing,” said Baltimore County State’s Attorney Scott Schellenberger.

In that incident, Bostic was arrested after he attempted to enter an apartment where a woman was sleeping on the couch. The woman awakened to find Bostic opening a sliding glass door. Bostic ran away when the woman screamed for her boyfriend. He was arrested a short distance from the apartment.

Evidence recovered from Bostic’s apartment lead police to charge him with the sexual assaults of two women that occurred no May 24, 2012 and multiple burglaries.

Police believe Bostic burglarized six other residences in a 56-day period, according to a statement issued by the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s office.

At the time of the incidents, Bostic was employed as a security guard at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center.

Prior to that, Bostic previously was employed as a police officer in Petaluma, CA, and a deputy sheriff in Sonoma County, CA, according to the state’s attorney’s office.

The plea agreement and sentencing resolved all of the outstanding charges against Bostic, according to Shellenberger.
