Goucher College Board Of Trustees Announce Inaugural Charter Trustees

The Goucher College Board of Trustees has announced the new designation of charter
trustee and the first three charter trustee members who have been recognized for providing
distinguished and meritorious service and leadership to the college. Patricia Batza ’91, Marilyn Warshawsky ’68, and Margaret Messler Winslow ’69 were unanimously recommended by the Nominating & Governance Committee to serve as
the inaugural charter trustees.

Charter trustees are elected to serve until retirement from among those who have or
are currently serving as members of the Goucher College Board of Trustees and have
demonstrated exceptional contributions to the college. Charter trustees may serve
without terms until the age of 80. Charter trustees will also be designated as trustees
emeriti if they so choose.

Recognized for their leadership, guidance, and commitment to Goucher College, Patricia
Batza and Margaret Messler Winslow were awarded the honor and title of charter trustee.
Batza, a board member for 22 years, has previously served the Board of Trustees as
vice chair and secretary. Winslow has served as a Board of Trustees member for 26
years, and she previously served as vice chair.

In addition to being recognized as a charter trustee, Marilyn Warshawsky was also
awarded the honor and title of college historian through her exhaustive research,
writing, and devotion to preserving the historical record of Goucher College and its
cofounders, John Franklin Goucher and Mary Fisher Goucher. Warshawsky is the past
AAGC president and past vice chair and chair of the Board of Trustees, where she has
served for 30 years.
