Historic Courthouse Measures Up For 'House Of Cards'
The popular Netflix political drama starring Kevin Spacey could begin filming in Towson as early as next week.

It appears the Historic Courthouse in Towson measures up to the standards of producers for the hit Netflix show House of Cards.
Workers for the Washington, DC-based political drama have visited the second floor offices occupied by the Baltimore County Council and a possible shooting date appears to be coming into focus.
"They have been in several times to measure," said Thomas Peddicord, the council's administrator and legal adviser.Â
Peddicord said he is hearing that July 31 will be the date the offices will be used. But that date might be flexible, he said.
The visit by producers was first reported on Jeff Quinton's Quinton Report blog.
Last month, producers visited the county building and looked at several locations, including exterior hallways and the council's legislative chambers.
Peddicord said Tuesday that producers continue to express interest in the council library and a hallway.
It's not clear if filming will take place during the day or after hours.Â
"We haven't had to do anything to accommodate them thus far," Peddicord said, adding that he believes "any disruption should be minimal."
"With only one meeting in the summer months, it's not a problem," Peddicord said.
House of Cards became the first online-only show to pick up an Emmy nomination. The show received nine nominations including best drama series and best lead actor and actress for Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, respectively.
Much of the action in the show is based in Washington, DC, but it is filmed on a soundstage in Harford County. Locations in Baltimore City and surrounding counties have been used to stand in for the nation's capital.
In June, the show shot scenes in the State House in Annapolis.
