K-9 Officer Dies Of Illness After Nearly A Decade Of Service

Police said Bella the bloodhound, who served Baltimore County for almost 10 years, died suddenly Thursday.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A K-9 officer died Thursday from an unexpected illness, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

Bella the bloodhound, who served the county for nearly 10 years, worked as a search-and-rescue K-9 officer, helping to find critical missing persons.

"It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that the Baltimore County Police Department announces the sudden passing of #BCoPD K9 Bella," officials said Thursday.

She was one of three bloodhounds on the K-9 search-and-rescue team in the Baltimore County Police Department. The others are Winston and Roxy.

Bella was described as a "loving and happy bloodhound who worked tirelessly" and was an "undeniable asset to the Baltimore County Police Department."
