TOWSON, MD — The Recher is reopening after an eight-year hiatus.

Since it has been closed, the building has been renovated to expose its original architecture. New hardwood flooring and a new stage have also been installed, while sound and lighting systems have been upgraded.

More than a dozen shows are planned through the first week in May.

Because current regulations call for capacity restrictions of 100 people due to the coronavirus, tickets will be limited.

If people want to sit together, they may buy tickets in groups of four or six per table. Tables will be 6 feet apart, with 15 feet between the artists onstage and the first row of tables, organizers say.

"Safety is top priority, and we will strictly enforce every safety precaution and expect 100 percent compliance from the fans," said Paul Manna, who owns 24-7 Entertainment concert promotion company and has partnered with Brian and Scott Recher to reopen the Towson concert venue.

When concertgoers arrive, they will have their temperatures checked. Masks will be required except when people are seated.

"It's been a year since we've all enjoyed live music, and it's time. Vaccines are on the rise and there's finally a feeling of relief in the air," Manna said in a statement. "I've spoken to so many bands and fans who are so excited to see our doors open again. For those who aren't quite as comfortable yet, I respect their decision. Hopefully we'll see them when they are ready."

A grand opening show featuring Baltimore's own Kelly Bell Band is planned for Friday, March 19.

"The Recher was the cornerstone of great music in Baltimore. It’s just like Phat Blues Music," Kelly Bell of Kelly Bell Band said in a statement. "It pays homage to the history, but the new design takes the live music experience to a whole new level. Get ready — the bar is about to get raised!"

The grand opening will be Friday, March 19. Doors will open at 7 p.m., and the show is at 8 p.m. Tickets are $20.

Here's the lineup of upcoming shows:
