Report Environmental Concerns To Baltimore County

There are several ways to report issues in Baltimore County about environmental concerns like chemical spills and trash dumping.

TOWSON, MD - From Baltimore County: County environmental officials can’t be everywhere, so we appreciate it when people let us know when they see (or smell!) something that doesn’t seem right to them. Reports from the public are a great compliment to our water quality monitoring.

If you see an environmental emergency, please call right away. A sewage overflow – from a manhole, pumping station or elsewhere - should be reported to DPW’s Bureau of Utilities 24-hour emergency line at 410-887-7415. If you come across evidence of a chemical spill or a fish kill, contact the Maryland Department of the Environment’s Emergency Response Division at 1-866-633-4686, which is also monitored 24/7. If you think that there is a dangerous or potentially life-threatening situation, you should call 911 and report it immediately. You can also call 911 if you see someone illegally dumping trash and debris.

For less time-critical issues, like a pile of dumped trash or wash water or other suspicious liquids flowing into a storm drain or stream, our Watershed Managers want to hear about it. Please report it online, or call during regular business hours to 410-887-5683 weekdays between 7:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.
