Shake Shack Signs Lease In Circle East, Plans To Open In 2020
Shake Shack is coming to Towson, after signing a lease with Circle East.

TOWSON, MD — Shake Shack will open in Circle East, on the "prominent corner" of Joppa Road at the Towson circle interchange. It will encompass 3,2000 square feet of space at the property now under development in the heart of Towson.
Retail Properties of America, which owns the property, announced this week that the lease with Shake Shack has been signed, and the retail part of Circle East is slated to open in late 2020.
Shake Shack will offer milkshakes, hamburgers, chicken, hot dogs, floats and dog biscuits on the menu. The nearest Shake Shack is at the Inner Harbor. Another is at The Mall in Columbia.

"We are excited to add the first Shake Shack to the Baltimore suburbs and believe that the addition of an industry-leading quick service restaurant will be in demand by a market that is comprised of young, affluent and educated shoppers who seek the 'live, work, play' environment that Circle East will deliver," Greg Goldberg, an executive with Retail Properties of America, said in a statement.
Circle East broke ground in Towson in 2017. The plan is to transform York at Joppa roads into a pedestrian-friendly area with an apartment building and 240,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space.

Developers expect the residents to move into the 370 apartments at Circle East in the first half of 2020. That part of the project will be overseen by AvalonBay.
"Circle East is poised to become a walkable, active environment with a sought-after lineup of brands, and we continue to attract both national and local retailers, services, and restaurants that are unique to the market and will deliver a true 'main street' to Towson," Goldberg said.
