'Significant Travel Disruptions' Possible In Maryland Monday
Drivers should plan ahead for the Monday morning commute, the National Weather Service advised.
MARYLAND — Due to potentially icy roads Monday morning, the National Weather Service issued a special weather statement Sunday alerting commuters. People should plan ahead and give themselves extra time.
"If commuting Monday morning, be aware of the POSSIBILITY of significant travel disruptions," the National Weather Service said in a statement.
During the Monday morning rush, forecasters say 1 to 3 inches of snow may fall in parts of northern and central Maryland.

"The area at highest risk of snow arriving before rush hour ends is west of Interstate 95," according to the National Weather Service's statement. "Many roads could quickly turn icy. This could lead to dangerous traveling conditions, multiple accidents and extensive delays."
The special weather statement applies to Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Cecil, Charles, Harford, Howard, Montgomery and Prince George's counties as well as D.C. and parts of the Fredericksburg metro area in Virginia.

"Plan ahead by allowing for extra travel time, and consider using public transportation and telework options," weather officials advised.
Baltimore, Carroll, Frederick, Harford, Howard, Montgomery and Washington counties are under a winter weather advisory calling for 1 to 3 inches of snow from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday. Rain is expected as temperatures rise above freezing Monday afternoon, according to authorities.
