Storm-Damaged Trees To Be Torn Down

Baltimore County arborists are removing six storm-damaged trees from Chesapeake Avenue, in the block west of York Road, on Saturday.

The trees were orginally scheduled to be taken down in spring 2014, but are being cut earlier at the request of a property owner concerned about winter damage, according to a news release from David Fidler, a spokesman for the Baltimore County Department of Public Works. Crews will remove the trees between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m., during which there will be no parking on the block.

The trees will be replaced as part of streetscape improvements to the block next year, the release reads. The project, a joint effort by County Executive Kevin Kamenetz and the Towson Chamber of Commerce, will look similar to the Allegheny Avenue streetscape and is estimated to cost $250,000.
