This coming May 5th marks Giving Tuesday Now, a global day of giving and unity, that encourages people to give what they can to local hospitals, non-profits and small businesses. Normally Giving Tuesday takes place after Thanksgiving, but in an emergency response to COVID-19, organizers have now brought a version of this spring.

“The team needs our continued support, which is why our participation in Giving Tuesday Now is critical,” said John B. Chessare, MD, MPH, President and CEO of the GBMC HealthCare System. “All funds raised will help GBMC employees who have been impacted by the virus. If you are looking for ways to make a difference, please consider a monetary donation to support those on the front lines who are making these sacrifices to keep us safe.”

All proceeds raised thought GBMC’s HealthCare Workers Fund benefit employees. GBMC HealthCare continues to take donations of food and beverages along with various health and medical supplies that are in high demand and advises that if you’re unable to provide financial support you can give in other ways during Giving Tuesday Now.

“People can send notes and letters of appreciation to our health care heroes, that their words of support and gratitude can reinvigorate our front lines staff and help keep them going during these days,” added Chessare.
