TOWSON, MD — A new restaurant will break ground in the next week in Towson. It will be a freestanding fast-casual eatery specializing in authentic Mexican food made from scratch.

Felipe’s Mexican Taqueria Restaurant will be located in a 3,500-square-foot restaurant that will be built following a groundbreaking on Thursday, June 6.

The new restaurant will be housed in a new space by the lower level of The Shops at Kenilworth.

Its kitchen will prepare tacos, burritos and salads with chicken tinga, carnitas and al pastor. Various items will be inspired by different regions of Mexico at the restaurant, where the decor and many fixtures are handmade and imported from the country.

Felipe's will also have a craft cocktail bar that specializes in hand-squeezed key lime margaritas.

"Our mission is to throw a party for our guests every day," Felipe's Director of Finance and Development Pike Howard said in a statement."Growing up just minutes away from this new location, I’m excited to finally have the opportunity to invite guests to enjoy our delicious food and welcoming hospitality in my hometown."

The Towson location will be the eighth restaurant for Felipe's, which is headquartered in New Orleans and also has a presence in Boston and Florida.

The plan is for Felipe’s to open by early 2020 near The Shops at Kenilworth.
