Towson Business Sells $50,000 Scratch-Off Ticket: MD Lottery

TOWSON, MD — A scratch-off ticket worth $50,000 was sold in Towson recently, according to the Maryland Lottery.

The E-Z Convenience store at 8104-A Loch Raven Boulevard sold the ticket. Officials said it was a scratch-off game called $ that costs $5 to play.

Towson's $50,000 ticket was one of the largest prizes reported in Maryland for the week ending Oct. 18, according to the Maryland Lottery.

Another ticket worth $50,000 was sold in Oxon Hill, and three tickets worth $20,200 were sold in Baltimore, Columbia and Westminster, lottery officials said.

Last week, authorities reported 23 winning tickets worth more than $10,000 were sold statewide.

This marks the second time in a year that the convenience store in the Ravenwood shopping center has sold a ticket worth a five-figure prize.

In November 2019, E-Z Convenience sold a ticket worth more than $12,000.

This year, the way to claim a prize is a bit different. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, lottery claims of $25,000 or more can be redeemed by appointment only at the Maryland Lottery headquarters at 1800 Washington Blvd., Baltimore, MD 21230.

For prizes up to and including $25,000, winners can claim them at five of Maryland's six casinos with no appointment necessary. See more information about how to claim prizes.
