Towson Police Warn of Lawn Burglaries

Residences in the Charles Street and Bellona Avenue have been targeted, Towson police said.

Towson police are warning residents to stay alert for lawn burglaries.

In the last week, two burglaries were reported in the Charles Street and Bellona Avenue area, according to an email from Sgt. Stephen Fink. Residents told polce that heavy concrete ornamental urns or baskets were removed from their yards.

Fink said the baskets were cut from atop pillars that were supporting them.

In a third incident, reported in the past few days, a resident allegedly observed two men, one who is possibly between the ages of 35 and 45, attempting to steal lawn furniture at 3:30 a.m. The men were said to be traveling in a silver pick-up truck.

Power tools and trucks are believed to have been used in all cases.

"...We are asking you once again to alert your community members to be observant of any activities in your neighborhoods and call 911 when any activity could be construed as suspicious or criminal," Fink wrote. "As we get more information on these type of crimes we'll pass it along to you so that you may in turn notify your neighbors."
