Towson Restaurant Honored By Restaurant Association Of Maryland

TOWSON, MD — A Towson restaurant has been inducted into the Maryland Hospitality Hall of Honor. The recognition is given to those establishments that have been in business for at least 20 years.

To make it into the Maryland Hospitality Hall of Honor, restaurants must "embody the spirit of the hospitality industry based on their longevity and overall contributions to their customers," according to the Restaurant Association of Maryland, which gave the accolades.

For 2019, there were a total of seven inductees into the Maryland Hospitality Hall of Honor:

  • Johanssons Dining House - Westminster
  • Mountain Gate Family Restaurant - Thurmont

More than 30,000 people participated in online voting that was used to determine the winners, according to the Restaurant Association of Maryland, the trade organization that promotes the state's food service and hospitality industry.

The Crackpot opened in 1972 and is family run. It boasts the biggest crab cake in Maryland, called the "Pounder Plus," weighing in at 22 ounces. It also offers gluten-free crab cakes.
