Towson Rower Headed To World Championships With U.S. National Rowing Team

The former Baltimore Rowing Club member will compete against the world's top rowers in the U23 World Rowing Championships in Bulgaria.

TOWSON, MD - Sebastian Amberger, 21, of Towson is headed to the U23 World Rowing Championships as a member of the U.S. national rowing team.

Standing almost 7 feet tall, Amberger beat out some of the nation's top collegiate rowers for his slot on the National Men's "Quad." After qualifying for the national team at Princeton in late June, Amberger and his crew have been training at one of the top FISA Race Courses, the regatta course at Frühlinger See near Cologne, Germany. They will head to Plovdiv, Bulgaria, on July 14. The competition kicks off on July 19.

Amberger started his rowing career as a Youth Rower at Baltimore Rowing Club, an organization who has been working hard to open up scholarships and opportunities to disadvantaged youth. He is a rising senior at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where he has been a member of the Varsity 8 since his freshman year.
