Towson's Loeschke To Appear Before Public Works Board
Gov. Martin O'Malley had asked the university's president to explain herself regarding a controversial athletic decision.
Earlier this week, Gov. O'Malley asked that Towson University president Maravene Loeschke "come down here" and explain herself regarding the elimination of the university men's baseball and soccer programs.
Now it looks like that's exactly what will happen.
Len Foxwell, chief of staff for state comptroller Peter Franchot, recently wrote on the Facebook page Save Towson Baseball that Loeschke will appear before the Maryland Board of Public Works early in April to "discuss the events that transpired."

"As most of you know by now, the Comptroller is deeply frustrated and troubled by the decision to eliminate the men's baseball and soccer programs, and by the manner in which this entire matter has been handled," Foxwell wrote in his post to the group, which has 2,557 likes.
The entirety of Foxwell's Facebook statement follows:
As Comptroller Franchot's Chief of Staff, I'm happy to be a part of this Facebook community. As most of you know by now, the Comptroller is deeply frustrated and troubled by the decision to eliminate the men's baseball and soccer programs, and by the manner in which this entire matter has been handled with the coaches, student-athletes, parents and other stakeholders. He has called upon Towson's leadership to reverse this decision, and will have this conversation in much greater detail on Wednesday, April 3, 10 a.m., when President Loeschke appears before the Board of Public Works to discuss the events that have transpired. This meeting is open to the public, and those who cannot attend can watch a streaming video feed through the site below. Sincere kudos to all of you who are fighting to give these young men an opportunity to play ball and learn the true values of intercollegiate sports.
