UConn (31-2) is an 11-time NCAA champion, including a streak from 2003 to 2006, PressBox reported.
The fact that the Huskies were the No. 2 seed rather than No. 1was left one UConn player with "just shock," she told the Hartford Courant, because team members had anticipated to be at the top of the division, but she added: "It's irrelevant...that's fine."
The last time the Tigers and Huskies met was in 2011, with the Huskies winning, 92-31, the newspaper reported.
This week's matchup will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 22, at Harry A. Gampel Pavilion in Storrs, Connecticut. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2 at 7 p.m.
