Traffic Circle, Joppa Road Closed For Crane Removal: Officials

TOWSON, MD — Detours will be in place at one spot in downtown Towson this weekend because of construction around the traffic circle. The change in traffic pattern starts Friday and ends Monday.

Effective immediately, Joppa Road will be closed at the York Road roundabout and Towson traffic circle, the Maryland Department of Transportation reported before 2:30 p.m. Friday.

From Friday afternoon to 5 a.m. Monday, Joppa Road will be closed between York Road and Virginia Avenue. A large crane will be put on Joppa Road that will reach into the Towson Avalon construction project to remove two tower cranes used during development of the residential component of Circle East.

Drivers will be detoured to Dulaney Valley Road to Fairmount Avenue.

Multiple buses will be diverted, according to the Maryland Department of Transportation:

• Northbound: Via the regular route westbound on Joppa Road to Virginia Avenue, then
  • Left on Virginia Avenue
  • Right on Pennsylvania Avenue
  • Right on York Road past Joppa Road, then via the regular route.
• Southbound: No change.

CityLink Red, RD, to Towson

• Southbound: Via the regular route westbound on Joppa Road to Virginia Avenue, then
  • Left on Virginia Avenue
  • Right on Pennsylvania Avenue
  • Left on York Road
• Northbound: No change.
