Up To 7 Inches Of Snow Possible In Baltimore County: NWS

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning calling for several inches of snow in parts of Baltimore County.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — There could be up to 7 inches of snow on the ground by Monday morning around Baltimore County, according to the National Weather Service. Due to the forecast, the agency issued a winter storm warning for some parts of Baltimore County and a winter weather advisory for others.

The winter storm warning calls for 4 to 7 inches of snow in northern Baltimore and Harford counties from 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, to 4 a.m. on Monday, March 4.

A winter storm warning means that severe winter weather conditions are forecast, making it dangerous to travel.

According to the National Weather Service, precipitation will be steady late Sunday afternoon and evening, and drivers should expect roads to be slippery.

While points north are under a warning, southern Baltimore County and southeastern Harford County are under a winter weather advisory from 2 p.m. Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday calling for 1 to 3 inches of snow and sleet.

These other areas are under separate winter storm warnings from noon Sunday to 4 a.m. Monday:

  • Carroll, Frederick and Washington counties — 4 to 8 inches of snow
  • Howard and Montgomery counties — 3 to 6 inches of snow

Those going outside should watch for slippery or icy sidewalks, driveways, steps and roads.

Drivers should keep an extra flashlight as well as food and water in case of an emergency.
