Fifteen Candidates Vying for District 6 Council Seat
Next week, residents will vote for a new District 6 County Council member.
On Tuesday, residents of the county's sixth district will vote for a new council member to represent them. Leslie E. Johnson, wife of former County Executive , in July after pleading guilty in federal court . Her sentencing is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., Oct. 13.
Prior to her resignation, Johnson vowed to remain on the County Council. Since her resignation, fifteen residents -- from Upper Marlboro, Bowie, and elsewhere -- have filed for candidacy. Some are newcomers, and others have run in previous elections.
Here, we've decided to bring the candidates directly to you. The top two votegetters will move on to the general election on Oct. 18th. The winner of that election will be the new District 6 County Council member.
