Homicide Arrest Made In Capitol Heights Shooting
PG County Police detectives have arrested a suspect in the April 4 fatal shooting of a homeless man in Capitol Heights.

PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD — Homicide detectives from the Prince Georges's County Police Department arrested a suspect in connection with the April 4 fatal shooting of a homeless man, according to a press release. They charged Jerald Melton, 60, of the 700 block of Larchmont Avenue in Capitol Heights, with second degree murder and related charges.
Officers responded on Saturday, April 4, about 1:3o p.m., for a welfare check at a residence in the 800 block of Kayak Avenue. Arriving on the scene, officers found Brown outside suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Police identified the decedent as Solomon Brown, 31, of no fixed address.
A preliminary investigation revealed that Melton and Brown knew each other and that the shooting stemmed from an argument between them. Melton is being held in custody by the Department of Corrections.
