Homicide Suspect Charged In Fatal Stabbing Case

Prince George's County Police charged a Suitland man in connection with an April 17 fatal stabbing.

SUITLAND, MD — Prince George's County homicide detectives arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal stabbing of 34-year-old Dwayne Coleman of Suitland, according to a police release. They charged Kevin Smith, 24, of the 2400 block of Ewing St., with second degree murder and related charges.

On April 17, around 11:30 p.m., PGPD officers were dispatched to the 400 block of Bonita Street for a reported stabbing. Arriving on the scene, they found Coleman inside a resident suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Following an investigation, police learned that the victim and suspect were known to each other, and that Smith had stabbed Coleman during a verbal disagreement. Smith is being held without bond by the Department of Corrections.
