Laurel Teen Pleads Guilty to Upper Marlboro Murder

A Laurel teenager pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree murder and first-degree attempted rape in the 2010 killing of Hannah Wheeling, a teacher at the Cheltenham Youth Facility in Upper Marlboro.

According to published reports, Brian Lee Wonsom was sentenced to serve 85 years in prison.

The Gazette reports that Wonsom raped and killed Wheeling on Feb. 17, 2010. The paper also reported that Wonsom beat her with a concrete block and attempted to rape her after her death, according to Wonsom's plea agreement.

Wheeling's autopsy report showed that she died of blunt force trauma and strangulation. Wonsom, 15, will be eligible for parole in 2052.
