Pedestrian Killed On Highway, Alcohol May Be Factor: Police
Alcohol may have played a role in the death of a pedestrian who walked onto a highway in Prince George's County and was killed, police say.

BRANDYWINE, MD – Alcohol may have played a role in the death of a pedestrian who walked onto a highway in Prince George's County and was killed, police say. Authorities have not yet released the name of the attempted to cross a highway on foot into the path of an oncoming Chrysler about 9 p.m. Saturday.
Maryland State Police say the victim has not yet been identified due to pending next of kin notification. Prince George’s County medic personnel pronounced the victim dead on the scene. The victim's body has been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Neither the driver of the Chrysler — James Williams II, 28, of Clinton — or a boy who was a passenger in the vehicle were injured in the crash.

State police say the accident happened on southbound US 301, south of Berry Street in Brandywine. Troopers from Maryland State Police Forestville Barrack say Williams was southbound on US 301 when the pedestrian reportedly walked into oncoming traffic, directly into the path of the approaching vehicle and was subsequently struck. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident.
The Maryland State Police Crash Team responded is conducting a detailed crash reconstruction. Results will be forwarded to the Prince George’s County State’s Attorney’s Office for review regarding charges.
