Police: Criminals Trade Tide Detergent for Drugs

Criminals in Prince George's County are stealing Tide laundry detergent from stores and trading it for marijuana and crack, according to Sgt. Aubrey Thompson, head of the Prince George's County Police crime unit that investigates retail crimes.

Man Sentenced to 110 Years for Killing Mother, Stepbrother in Pr. George's

Quindell Mercer "executed his mother and stepbrother in cold blood for no apparent reason," the state's attorney's office said in a news release.

Hyattsville Yarn Store Closing Down 

In the face of an increasingly difficult retail environment, the owners of A Tangled Skein, the downtown Hyattsville boutique yarn shop, are closing up shop after six years in business. 

Man Convicted in College Park Poker Game Robbery

Sergio Hernandez, 24, was sentenced to 60 years in prison for robbing nine people at a College Park poker game in 2011.

The August 2011 robbery took place at an apartment complex near the College Park Ikea. Hernandez took cell phones, cash and other electronics from people who were attending a party, according to Alsobrooks.

Bowie Man Killed in Fatal Accident

Luis E. Tadeo, 42, was struck by a vehicle and killed on Wednesday in a highway work zone in Cecil County. 

Bowie City Staff to Draft Amendment to Melford Covenants

The amendment could clear the way for thousands of new homes and a new mixed-use development to be built in the Melford office park, located off of Rt. 3 and Rt. 301 in Bowie.
